of my trip to Lava - Rishyap
-
Loleygaon - Kalimpong in December 2004. These beautiful hill
stations are located in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India.
The view of Kanchendzonga from Rishyap is superb -- one finds oneself
literally surrounded by the Himalayan range. There is a nice trek-route
between Lava and Rishyap -- around 5 km through the forest. I would
highly recommend this trek to anyone visiting these places -- the route
is quite safe, well-trodden and not much climbing is involved.
Loleygaon also offers a good view of Kanchendzonga. Kalimpong is a
lovely hill station.

of my trip to Ganga Sagar
in
January 2005 (during Makar Sankranti). Ganga Sagar is a large
sea-beach near the confluence of the Ganges and the Bay of Bengal in
Sagar island at the southernmost part of West Bengal, India. Lakhs of
Hindu pilgrims descend on this beach during Makar Sankranti (winter
solistice) every year to take a holy dip and offer puja.

Photos
of my trip to Kalimpong in
May 2005. I loved the ambience (and flowers!) of Kalimpong during my
first trip in December 2004 and returned there with my wife at the
first available opportunity. Please note that May is NOT the season for
flowers -- but Kalimpong is a place where one can see enough variety of
flowers in any season. Seeing is believing -- so do check out the
pictures.
